Product Description
The performance of this 24mm Takahashi eyepiece puts to shame the images in the 25-26mm eyepieces supplied with most new telescopes. This medium focal length Takahashi eyepiece uses a proprietary five-lens optical design for exceptionally sharp high contrast images. While this 24mm Takahashi may have the superb contrast, low ghosting, flat field, and excellent edge to edge image sharpness for which classical four-element Abbe-type orthoscopic eyepieces are famous, its modern five-element design has a 52° apparent field of view that far outstrips the 40-42° field typical of even the best conventional orthos.
The 24mm Takahashi is an excellent medium power eyepiece for scanning open clusters, picking up subtle detail in low surface brightness emission and reflection nebulas, etc. It provides a big 5.3mm exit pupil with an f/4.5 Dobsonian reflector for scanning the Milky Way star clouds in Sagittarius and nebular remnants like the Veil. It's an excellent choice to complement the 40mm eyepiece provided with some go-to Schmidt-Cassegrains. It makes an excellent high quality all-purpose eyepiece with scopes of all optical types - refractors, Schmidt-Newtonian and Dobsonian reflectors, catadioptrics, and more.
