Our Product #: AT22XB

Product Description

The Astro-Tech AT22XB is a very high quality 2" Barlow with a 1.25" eyepiece adapter that will double the power of any 2" or 1.25" eyepiece it is used with. It uses a fully multicoated doublet optical system with an ED (Extra low Dispersion glass) element for true apochromatic (color-free) performance. The lens edges are blackened for high contrast. Color correction and sharpness are excellent. This 2" Astro-Tech Barlow adds nothing to your eyepiece image except an increase in magnification.

The body of this Astro-Tech 2" Barlow is CNC-machined from aluminum, hard anodized black for long life. The clear aperture is 37mm so that you can use wide-field 2" eyepieces without vignetting. Both the 2" Barlow itself and the supplied 1.25" eyepiece adapter use non-marring soft brass compression rings to hold your eyepieces securely in place. A knurled rubber grip ring in the body assures a firm grip on this 13.7 oz. Astro-Tech Barlow in cold or damp weather.

I use it with 9.25" Evo. DSOs look great with my 30mm and 38mm eyepieces. (Posted on 10/10/2019)

This Barlow has excellent light transmission, and renders a crisp image. I use it on my Explore Scientific 152mm Mak-Cas in conjunction with Bresser 70° series eyepieces. It's an excellent Barlow! (Posted on 7/24/2019)

This has threads for 2" (48mm) filters! That was a pleasant surprise.
As the Director of Lake Afton Public Observatory), I bought this to expand our choice of magnification.
(Already have 40mm and 28mm eyepieces)
The optical quality is excellent! However, the screw for the 2" eyepieces was quickly stripped due to the short thread length. (Already replaced with a steel screw) (Posted on 1/15/2019)

Bought this to expand our effective number of eyepieces. (Already have 40mm and 28mm)
Optical quality is excellent! However, the aluminum screw for 2" eyepieces was quickly "stripped".
(Already replaced with a steel screw.) The screw for 1-1/4" eyepieces is good (deeper hole for threads). (Posted on 1/15/2019)

For the price, this is an excellent 2x barlow. I have seen clear views and no false color when used with a 10" F/4.9 Dob. (Posted on 10/10/2018)

For the price it's hard to beat this barlow. I bought it to use with a small planetary camera but found it to be impressive for visual use and often push magnification with my bino-viewers. Very good optics. (Posted on 10/8/2018)

If you like snapping DSLR pics through your large Dob, this unit brings the focal point 'out' of the eyepiece far enough to reach the camera's sensor. Works great and adds no color. I'm happy with it for viewing as well. (Posted on 10/6/2018)

I recently purchased this barlow. I used it with an Astro-Tech 72 and a 9mm Nagler eyepiece to view Jupiter. The barlow added no false color to Jupiter's image. It was more sharp and clear compared with an older model Televue barlow that I own. This barlow is an excellent value. (Posted on 8/4/2017)
