Product Description

This exceptional Celestron 15mm Luminos 1.25" eyepiece uses seven optical elements for optimized performance across a very wide and flat 82° field of view. A 10" f/4.5 Dobsonian reflector will have a full 1.07° field at 76x with this eyepiece, more than twice the diameter of the full Moon and ideal for resolving globular clusters and the smaller nebulas. A 4" f/8 refractor will have a 1.51° field at 54x, three times the diameter of the Moon. The calculator below will show you how wide a field you can expect with your particular telescope.

This 15mm Celestron Luminos is designed to have minimal field curvature, making it particularly well-suited for use with flat field telescopes such as refractors with field flatteners, as well as Celestron EdgeHD and Meade Advanced Coma-Free flat field catadioptric scopes.

I love this eye piece. It is my favorite due to the wide viewing angle. It is very comfortable to use and the price is very reasonable. (Posted on 10/23/2019)

I love the Luminos Eyepiece series. I have the 15mm, 19mm and 23mm and all work together as they are para-focal. They are affordable and have a great FOV. (Posted on 10/18/2019)

This has become my go-to eyepiece for my C90 Mak and C6 SCT. Gives a generous field of view with both scopes along with sufficient resolution for planets, moon and many double stars. Sharp views across most of the field with these higher f/ratio scopes, and no noticeable edge of field brightening. (Posted on 10/12/2019)

I realized my beginner eyepieces were not allowing me to view objects the same as I saw when looking through my friends telescopes. They loaned me their eyepieces and suddenly I could see objects through my telescope that just were there with my eyepieces. Searching eyepieces to upgrade to, I discovered the Luminos series of eyepieces. They were within my price range and I took a chance and bought a 7mm and a 15mm. Good decision! I'm seeing MUCH better through my scope. I suspect there's better eyepieces, but these are good and affordable! I'm very happy with them! (Posted on 9/13/2019)

Once decloaked and fitted with a standard plossl-sized rubber eye guard this EP became very comfortable and convenient to use. Optically there is some EoFB and astigmatism in the outer field, though nothing approaching that of the 31 Luminos. I consider this a step down from the best of the Meade and ES 82° offerings, but still nice with better comfort, and great for the price. I have two for binoviewing, where for me the outer field sharpness is less critical because my eyes stay mostly on the center of view. Star clusters are amazing with a pair of 15 Luminoses in a big scope. (Posted on 10/26/2018)

Good deep sky views with less scatter then the 23mm and none of the 10mms ghosting issues. Still, not a dark background and I'd look elsewhere. (Posted on 8/4/2017)
