The Celestron 47003 compact barometric weather station and digital clock reads and displays the indoor and outdoor temperatures in either Fahrenheit or Centigrade, plus the indoor humidity, and predicts the weather for the upcoming 12 to 24 hours.
A built-in barometer in the Celestron 47003 measures the atmospheric pressure and uses its trend to forecast the weather with icons for Sunny/Partly Cloudy/Cloudy/Rainy/Stormy. The 47003 weather station predicts the weather conditions for the next 12 to 24 hours with about 70% accuracy. While the barometer does not display the actual barometric pressure, the barometric trend (rising, falling, stationary) is shown as an icon, as is the temperature trend.
Its battery-operated single wireless remote thermometer has a 100’ range. A display on the face of the remote temperature sensor shows the temperature at the remote location. An icon on the weather station itself will illuminate if the batteries in the remote sensor are getting low.
Since the remote sensor both transmits the local temperature to the indoor station and displays the temperature for an observer at its location, inside a telescope dome would be an ideal location for a second sensor. You can both keep track of conditions inside your dome when it is not in use as well as keep track of the temperature at the scope while you are observing.
The free-standing or wall-mounted Celestron 47003 has a programmable indoor and outdoor minimum and maximum temperature warning alarm and a min/max memory for indoor and outdoor temperatures. It also has a Moon phase display, a useful reminder for amateur astronomer deep space observers, and a current tide display that is useful for those who fish.
The digital quartz clock has a built-in alarm with five minute snooze function. Its attractive large LCD display is easy to read day or night. You can select a 12 or 24 hour time format, with a calendar that shows the year, month, date, and day of the week. The week day can be displayed in English, German, Italian, French, Dutch, Spanish, Russian, or Danish.
The 47003 requires two user-supplied AA type batteries to power the main unit and two user-supplied AA batteries for the remote sensor.
The indoor operating temperature range is from +32° F to +122° F (0° C to +50° C), while the outdoor range is from -58° F to +158° F (-50° C to +70° C), with an accuracy of +/- 0.5° C. The indoor/outdoor relative humidity range is 30% to 90%, with an accuracy of +/- 1.5%. The compact indoor weather station display unit weighs 8 ounces and measures approximately 6.7" tall by 3.8" wide and 2.5" deep. The outdoor sensor unit weighs 5 ounces and measures approximately 3.6" tall by 2.5" wide and 1.2" deep.
