I find that it removes light dust and light surface marks from dew very nicely. The brush fits well into most eyepiece barrels. To perform a thorough cleaning you would still need to use a good cleaner like ROR, but this works extremely well for light duty cleanup and maintenance. (Posted on 8/5/2019)
This is a decent cleaning tool for eyepieces and small aperture refractors when used correctly. Personally, I use a blower bulb followed by an anti-static brush before using the retractable brush or cleaning pad. One word of caution take your time and only focus on cleaning small sections until the whole lens is completed if you decide to use it on anything larger than an eyepiece. Also, it helps if you are inside (or in a relatively dust and particulate free environment) and have a bright light on the areas you are cleaning. (Posted on 7/27/2019)
For its price, this is a good lenspen cleaning tool. There are better choices but obviously, they will end up being more money. I mainly only use this when I want to clean an eyepiece quickly so I can get to observing. It does its job with getting the dust off the surface if you are very gentle, that is the key with this optics cleaning tool. (Posted on 1/12/2019)
These Lenspens are great for cleaning small areas like eyepieces and sections of camera lenses. First use the retractable brush to remove any large pieces of dust particles. Then pop the cap off of the liquid-free carbon cleaning tip and gently rub it around the surface. It will remove any leftover gunk. The original Lenspen is the best -- I believe this is that and Celestron just put their name on it.
A very useful tool to have with you in the field.

Works great for cleaning off loose eyelashes and specs from eyepieces. (Posted on 12/31/2018)
As I often have young children looking through my telescope, smudges from curious fingers and oil from eyelashes contacting the glass are common. The Lens Pen does a great job of cleaning these off - just be sure to carefully dust the surface of the glass with the retractable brush before using the cleaning pad. (Posted on 10/18/2018)
There are a number of folks that a apprehensive about a reusable cleaning surface due to the possibility of crud getting stuck in the pad and scratching coatings. However, these Lens Pen tools are in my experience safe and very handy for a minor cleaning of the eyepiece eye lens surface, as long as you keep a few things in mind. Firs off, DO NOT clean your eyepieces in the field conditions. There will be particles on the surface that you will not be able to see, which can damage the surface. Ensure you have good (bright) lighting. Use the retractable brush and a bulb blower to ensure that no debris remains on the lens, then gently use the cleaning tip to remove and residue / gunk that exists on the surface. I also closely inspect the tip of the cleaning pad before use and prior to recapping it. With all that in mind, this thing is absolutely great if you find oil from eyelashes etc on your eyepiece after an observing session. I would not recommend using this to clean a lens / mirror / corrector plate of a telescope however. (Posted on 10/15/2018)
