Celestron Kit of 1.25" Plössl eyepieces and visual accessories

Color filters are good, 32mm eyepiece was good, other eyepieces are decent, moon filter is too green, Barlow lens is awful. Just awful.

Might have just been luck of the draw, but I seemed to get a mediocre set. Still, there's some nice stuff in a decent case and can work as a good starter set if the Barlow lens was better. (Posted on 7/24/2019)

The 32mm eyepiece is the best of the bunch, and I use it quite frequently. The others are not bad for a starter kit, but the shorter you get in focal length, the more the apparent view quality drops. For the money, it's an okay kit, but better quality can be found elsewhere for not too much more. (Posted on 1/5/2019)

Great starter kit here. If you're looking for an entry level starter kit with solid performance, then this is the kit you want. It's a tremendous value when you consider all you get for the price. I guess for $150 dollars, the value of this kit is okay. But be advised, this is starter gear. I have eventually replaced every one of these eyepieces with a Meade 4000 Plossl. There are also better Celestron eyepieces. These are good enough to look at stars with, but don't expect killer views. The shorter focal lengths are hard to use due to the small image circle and the fact that you have to get your eyeball right up in there.

My advice would be to buy 1 or 2 good quality $70 eyepieces. Maybe a 14mm to start and then add a 9mm or a 20mm.
Most small scopes you would try the 5mm with are not going to be stable enough to endure a view for long without loosing tracking. (Posted on 1/2/2019)

This was one of the first kits i bought in this journey of mine it served me well, and reminds me how far I've come in this lifetime hobby they offer good enough views and have what you need to get started. The low power was my favorite one in the bunch (Posted on 12/1/2018)

I got this when i bought my 9.25 and the eyepieces are average quality, but its great for a beginner as I was and provided me with a variety of magnifications and FOV to experiment with. As for the filters, I only used the moon filter and it was great to keep the brightness down. A moon filter is a must have LOL.. you'll see. I was happy for a long time and these served me well until i got more serious with the hobby and was willing to invest in better eyepieces. price to performance ratio is high for this set. Are you buying your first real telescope? Then you should probably get these. It's a great (inexpensive) way to get introduced to how the different sized eyepieces affect magnification, field of view, etc. when chasing those faint fuzzies. Are they the greatest quality? Not really...but, hey, for the price of less than a decent grade eyepiece, you get 5 of them plus a number of filters you can play with to try and coax out different details from those fuzz-balls :)

The eyepieces are very good, I love using them with my Celestron C8 to look at the moon. I haven't used the filters much. I would give the filters a much lower rating than the eyepieces if i could because the moon filter I received had a bubble in the glass. (Posted on 10/6/2018)

I got this kit in December 2011 and have used it regularly since then. For the money, it is the best add-on to a modest setup that the beginning to intermediate amateur astronomer can get.

The eyepieces add a variety of magnifications and/or fields of view to the stock eyepieces that come with a scope. The included Barlow gives even more options.

To date, I have not used the colored filters too much. The neutral density lunar filter did help me to gain my Astronomical League Lunar Program award for observations when the moon was bright between first and last quarter.

The case is sturdy and has enough extra space inside to allow for inclusion of my green laser pointer, a deep sky filter and the two stock eyepieces that came with my scope (an 8" Dobsonian). There is still room left were I to add another eyepiece or two.

I have done lunar, planetary and deep-sky observations with all the eyepieces in this kit and have been satisfied with the views. I have not had the chance to compare these eyepieces to pricier units. I'm sure a side-by-side comparison would show a marked difference. For the money, however, for someone new to the hobby or especially for someone on a budget, this kit offers excellent value. I would recommend it. (Posted on 8/4/2017)

Hi i have a celestron kit and i love it because i do not need to buy many things to many telescope only a kit with everything like moon filter and city filter and many filters and nice eyepieces with differents length and it is best for you how wants everything at the same time if i was you so buy a celestron you save lot of money and they are so nice. The 32mm and 9mm eyepieces included in this set are quite good, the case is of very good quality, and the color filters are great if you're a hardcore planetary observer.

Unfortunately, the barlow is of mediocre quality and induces quite a bit of chromatic abberation. The 6mm and 15mm eyepieces have inadequate field stops so the FOV just fuzzes out at the edge. The 4mm has no eye relief whatsoever. The moon filter is not a neutral density and gives a pronounced green cast to the image.

For a beginner this set is decent for building a halfway respectable accessory set on the cheap, but more experienced observers will want to look at the Meade Series 4000 set instead. Much higher quality, even if it doesn't have as diverse a range of filters. (Posted on 8/4/2017)

Making your new scope your own is picking products that help it become a reflection of you. I purchased the set of eye pieces for my scope. I would recommend getting them because of the break in the price, rather than purchasing them separately is costly. But the set is great. I liked the cool green filter, when looking at a full moon. Its just to bright with out the filter, being new at this i find that I am still learning. I would recommend this set to a friend. Thank you 50 times. Richard (Posted on 8/4/2017)
