Product Description
A Star Diagonal lets you view objects that are at a 90° angle from the direction the telescope is pointing, thereby allowing comfortable viewing when the telescope is pointed at, or near, the zenith (i.e. directly overhead). The resulting image is right side up, but will be reversed from left to right.

This is the great, unsung diagonal for long focal length refractors. At long focal lengths, there is no problem with chromatic aberration from the prism. The coated prism gives complete internal reflection at about 95%, rivaling the best mirrors and beating most. It will last essentially forever, because unlike mirrors, prisms do not loose transmission with age. Its surfaces and geometry may well be truer than those of mirrors in this price range, which can warp in the coating process. It is also easier to clean. Let everyone else pay big bucks for dielectrically coated mirror diagonals. Be smart, and buy this one!
Why four stars? The two thumbscrews are great, both for steadying the eyepiece and retaining one after the other is lost in the dark, but I'd far rather have a compression ring. For $40, buy it anyway! (Posted on 8/4/2017)
