This skill, called using averted vision, is especially helpful when observing faint objects, because using averted vision puts the image on a part of your eye that is more sensitive to light, allowing you to see fainter images.

ES 62" 40mm is a fantastic value for budget astronomers. I purchased mine for star-hopping and targeting larger deep-sky objects with an 200mm f/5 reflector. In this setup the eyepiece yields a whopping 2.5 degree actual field of view at 25x magnification. I do notice a small bit of coma toward the edge of the field, so I'm purchasing a coma corrector to compliment this eyepiece. Other thing to note: this eyepiece is a beast, requiring a robust focus setup and scope balancing. Overall, I love it. (Posted on 1/7/2019)

Wow! I popped this eyepiece into my Dobsonian and the view was spectacular! Amazing depth of field and eye relief make it easy to focus and a pleasure to view through. Highly recommended. (Posted on 11/19/2018)
