Product Description

This iOptron 7623 adjustable height LiteRoc field tripod is one of the mounting options available for the iOptron CEM40 and GEM45 mounts.
The 7623 has a 6" diameter aluminum head casting and 1.75" diameter upper leg section and a 1.5" lower leg section (this diamater was the same on the outgoing 2" tripod model).  They are chromed steel adjustable height legs as well. It weighs 15 pounds (6.8 kg). Redisgned large lock levers on the legs let you level the tripod on uneven ground and adjust the tripod height to a maximum of 47".
The legs have a center brace for rigidity.  The rod simultaneously tightens the leg brace in place to lock the legs rigidly in the most stable position. A large hand-tighten knob lets you tighten the threaded rod with no tools required.

Review by:
I bought this particular model of LiteRoc tripod for use with my ZWO AM5 mount, as a sturdier, yet still portable and affordable, base. It has met my needs quite well. I have the 200 mm ZWO pier extension for my AM5 which attaches easily and securely to the top of this tripod via 2- 6mm Allen screws. Simple and solid. Holds my AM5 with the AT-102EDL easily, and should not be overburdened with anything that the AM5 can handle within reason.

The tripod with the pier extension is more than tall enough if you extend the legs fully, though I recommend, depending on your height and purpose, extending the legs about 2/3 of their length for greater stability. For me, and I'm 6' 2" tall, extending the lower legs about 16 inches for visual use works perfectly. For AP, I think the the legs can probably be left fully retracted at the minimum height.

The tripod feet are different than I am used to - not spiked feet like many tripods, but on solid surfaces, they work great. One note of importance - when you extend the legs, be sure to clamp down the leg locking levers securely. It's not difficult, but you want to be sure that they leg won't slide back into the upper tube and throw you off balance. (Posted on 1/13/2024)
