Product Description

This Kendrick 1" x 7" dew heater strip fits 2" eyepieces, 50mm finderscope objectives, and smaller camera lenses up to 2.7" in diameter. It can also be used on oversized 1.25" eyepieces. One side of the heater strip is sponge-insulated. This directs the warmth of the heater element into the eyepiece, rather than being lost into the atmosphere, so that less energy is needed to keep your eyepiece moisture free.

The heater strip is wrapped around the eyepiece, label side out. The entire back (label side) of the heater strip is Velcro. There is a Velcro tab on a 2.5" elastic strap on one end of the heater strip. When you pull the strap tight and press the Velcro tab onto the Velcro back of the heater, the elasticity of the strap holds the heater in place on the eyepiece.

The 4 watt heater strip draws 0.3 amps at full power (power consumption at normal operating levels will generally be 30% to 50% of maximum, as the normal standard controller setting is medium to low). It has a permanently attached 4' power cord terminated by a male RCA plug for connection to the heater control unit.

I originally bought one for my finderscope but after I got a 2" eyepiece, this heater started seeing double duty. I have to cap my finder but it's worth the small effort. I've used the Kendrick system since 2004 and it is still working as new. (Posted on 10/4/2019)

Not only will this 2" heater work on eyepieces but it can also be used to finderscope objectives. Any glass surface can dew up especially in humid regions where I observe. I use two of these, one for eyepieces and one for my finderscope. No problems. Before I bought the second one I used one as double duty, having to cap my finderscope when using 2" eyepieces. I have been using a 2" Kendrick dew heater for a number years on various eyepieces, a 50mm finder scope, and small diameter camera lenses. I have also been using the 3" version on a 70mm guide scope, and the 5" version on a 130mm refractor. The Kendrick system, while a bit pricey, has worked well for me on even the most dew and frost prone evenings. (Posted on 1/4/2019)
