Product Description

This universal dovetail plate fits the 75mm dovetail slot of the "D-Plate" saddle used on current Losmandy G11, HGM Titan, and GM-8 German equatorial mounts. It will also fit older GM-8 mounts that have been upgraded to the wider-dovetail G11 saddle plate, as well as Celestron CGEM, CI-700, CGE, and CGE Pro mounts. It is designed primarily to hold the mounting rings of longer focal length It is designed primarily to hold the mounting rings of longer focal length Astro Physics, Astro-Tech, Borg, Celestron, Explore Scientific, Meade, Orion, Parallax, Questar, Stellarvue, Takahashi, TeleVue, Vixen, and William Optics refractors, plus those of the larger Questar, Meade, and Celestron catadioptric optical tubes.

The dovetail has a series of 72 mounting holes on center-to-center separations of 35mm, 60mm, 1.25", 1.5" and 2", four centerline slots, and 10 centerline holes for installing virtually any configuration of mounting rings. The holes and slot are countersunk on the underside of the dovetail. This assures that the bolts holding the mounting rings will not protrude and keep the dovetail plate from sliding back and forth in the mount saddle for balancing. Thread-in bolts are provided to act as stops to keep the dovetail and optical tube from sliding out of the mount saddle should the mount's locking knob loosen accidentally.

As a thoughtful touch, the corners of the 75mm dovetail are rounded to keep them from digging into the saddle and hanging up if the dovetail is not perfectly straight when it is installed on the mount. The 0.7" thick dovetail is precision-machined of aluminum stock. It measures 14" long x 4" wide overall and is anodized black for good looks and durability. It weighs 2.4 lbs.

Used this plate for a Williams optics 70mm Zenithstar apo for Astrophotography work. This thing is built like a tank and has enough holes to accommodate virtually any scope . if you need a Losmandy style plate and want to be sure that it'll mate to your scope, this is by far your best bet. If you have a smaller scope There is a smaller 7" universal version available as well (which is the one i should have gotten for my little apo). That being said, the 14" plate, though larger than I needed. was a excellent indestructible plate. (Posted on 1/3/2019)

This dovetail plate is precision machined. I really enjoy having the scale etched on the side of the plate. It makes it easy to put it back on the mount in the same position. I mount a DSLR and telephoto lens on the plate inside two rings. A guide camera and scope are mounted to a Vixen plate mounted to the top of the rings. It is very stiff. (Posted on 12/26/2018)

A precision, extremely well-made saddle plate with ample choices for scope ring spacing, the DUP14 is all anyone could need for mounting several types of scopes. I chose this due to it's higher weight, wanting to better balance my mount with an additional smaller CW for fine-tuning RA balance. The etched increments on the edge makes it far easier to place the scope back in the same position each time you set up. I'd highly recommend this product. (Posted on 11/6/2018)
