This complete counterweight system fits fork mount Celestron 9¼” and 11”, and Meade 10” Schmidt-Cassegrain and Advanced Coma-Free telescopes, plus Meade 7” Maksutov-Cassegrains. It will only work with current model 9¼” Celestrons that have 16.5” mounting hole spacing between their front and rear cells. It will not work with older 9¼” Celestron scopes with 17.25” spacing. Use part #WS9
for such scopes. In addition, the Celestron C11 requires an optional #VCB11 adapter block set if the spacing between the two holes in the rear cell is 1.75”.
The counterweight system has dual axis counterweight motion, both fore and aft along the telescope tube and closer to the tube or further away, giving you greater flexibility in balancing accessory loads. Its lighter single counterweight can balance heavier loads than conventional counterweight systems because of this unique design.
The counterweight system consists of a black anodized aluminum dovetail bar that extends along the underside of the telescope optical tube, all appropriate mounting hardware, and a 2.5 pound dovetail-mounted counterweight. A Phillips head screwdriver is the only tool required to install the counterweight system and no tools are needed to adjust it during use.
The long threaded rod with a dovetail at one end is slipped onto the installed dovetail bar. The 2.5 pound counterweight is threaded onto the rod and the position of the rod along the telescope tube and the distance of the weight below the tube is adjusted until the accessory load is balanced. A large no-tool handle on the threaded shaft securely locks the rod in place at any desired location along the dovetail bar.
If extremely heavy loads need to be balanced, optional extra 2.5 pound and 5 pound threaded counterweights are available. The dovetail bar measures 17.25” in length. The total weight of the counterweight system is 4.2 pounds.
