Product Description
Your location and time must be entered into your Gemini 2 computer in order for the Gemini 2 to move your Losmandy GM8, G11, or HGM Titan mount to celestial objects. The more accurately your location and time are entered, the more accurate your Gemini 2's aim.
With this Losmandy/Garmin GPS receiver, there's no guessing about your exact location on earth and the exact time. The receiver uses the signals from a network of orbiting government satellites to determine your location on earth with an accuracy of a few meters, and the time with an accuracy measured in tiny fractions of a second.
Operation of the Losmandy/Garmin GPS receiver is simplicity itself. Once your mount is set up and polar aligned, simply plug the single small connector at one end of the 10' GPS receiver cable into Port 1 on the the Gemini 2 system. No external power is needed, as the GPS receiver is powered by your Gemini 2 computer.
Make sure that the GPS unit is positioned away from the mount, using its 10' cable, so that the metal in your mount and optical tube can't affect the GPS receiver. Turn on the Gemini 2 and wait 3 to 5 minutes while the GPS receiver acquires three satellites so it can triangulate your location on earth. Turn off the Gemini 2, wait 15 seconds, then turn the Gemini 2 back on. All location and time information will be downloaded from the GPS receiver into your Gemini 2 go-to computer. Unplug the Losmandy/Garmin GPS receiver. You can do this without turning off the Gemini 2. That's all there is to it.
Locate your guidestar or star(s) and you can immediately start locating celestial objects with GPS accuracy using your Gemini 2 go-to computer and Losmandy mount.
