Product Description
The 100° apparent field of this new Meade Mega Wide Angle 10mm medium high power eyepiece is nearly 50% larger in area than an 82° field eyepiece of the same focal length. And its price is surprisingly economical compared to competitive 100° field eyepiece of a similar focal length.
You can use the field of view calculator below to see just how much sky the 10mm Meade Extra Wide Angle can reveal with your telescope.
The eight fully multi-coated lens elements of the 10mm Meade Extra Wide Angle provide full field sharpness - with well-controlled astigmatism, field curvature, and lateral color. Blackened lens edges subdue internal reflections to improve the contrast. The reasonably light weight (14.7 ounce) Meade 10mm MWA is parfocal with the other Meade Mega Wide Field eyepieces. It is waterproof for protection against dewing during nights of high humidity and cool temperatures.
The Meade 10mm MWA measures 2.6" in diameter and 4.3" in length. It has a soft fold-down eyecup to shield your eye from ambient light (from a neighbor's security light, for example) to improve image contrast. It has a wide rubber grip ring for a secure hold in dewing conditions or when wearing gloves or mittens in cold weather. In addition, the 10mm Meade Mega Wide Angle has a long 19.7mm eye relief for essentially unvignetted use when wearing eyeglasses.

This 10mm eyepiece is a great buy. Offering a 100 degree field of view, it allows a bit of power to be applied to an object without issues with tracking accuracy. This wide field eyepiece shows good, pinpoint stars to the edges without sacrificing overall contrast. It is a bit brighter than I was expecting as well. I love using this eyepiece with globular clusters, as well as exploring the details of the Andromeda Galaxy. You can actually move your eye position around a bit to search the edges of the field, which is fun to do, especially with open clusters. For this price, it is hard to go wrong with this eyepiece.
