Product Description

The Astro-Tech 8x50 finderscope is a fantastic value as well as an improvement over many stock finderscopes.
The finderscope bracket is designed to slip right into many popular telescopes supplied finder shoes.  You will find this Vixen style angle finder shoe on telescopes manufactured by Astro-Tech, Orion, Celestron, Vixen, as well as many others. The bracket has three large nylon thumb screws making it easy center your finderscope with your OTA.
The multi-coated 50mm optics help provide better contrast and resolution as you search the night sky for your targets, while the wide 5.6° field of view keeps everything in perspective.  The finder has the ability to focus the objective lens as well as focus the Cross Hair eyepiece.  You will find the wonderful Cross Hair eyepiece in the viewing end of the finder has the ability to add an illuminator making centering objects a much easier task.
The finder with bracket weighs in at one pound six ounces.  Without bracket the finderscope weighs one pound even.
The Astro-Tech 8x50 Finderscope is the missing accessory your evening of observing has been looking for.

Very nice finder scope that's much better than the stock finder scopes on my previously purchased refractors. The ability to focus the eyepiece is a plus. Wish the website had mentioned that the front objective can be focused - will do that tonite. Also grateful to the previous reviewers for suggesting illumination for the reticle. Will get that. I purchased this finder for my AT115EDT and it is a wonderful compliment to it. The optics are clear and crisp and the overall construction smacks of Astr Tech quality.

The only caveats I offer are the description doesn't specify that not only does the eyepiece screw in and out for focus, but so does the front cell. It took me a bit to figure this out. Also, the adjusting screws are plastic and these do detract from the quality a bit. Otherwise, and for the price, this is this a bargain. I did order the reticle illuminator for it as the cross hairs are somewhat difficult to see. In short, I highly recommend this product. (Posted on 11/24/2022)

This is a nice little finder scope but one review said it was erect view, it is not, and another review mentioned right angle view, it is straight through. I was expecting a right angle erect view but that is not what this scope is. I will still keep it but it would have been nice if there was a better description or an actual image of the product on the website, at least it would have reveled it is a straight through and not right angle view with an image. The other reviews are from a few years ago so maybe this product was a different model when those reviews were written. (Posted on 10/18/2022)

This is a very nice finderscope. The field of view and magnification are just right for small telescopes and the price is amazing. I do wish that the crosshair was illuminated, but I can still make it out if I shine an led illuminator in the front aperture. I love the fact that the image is erect and correct left to right--it makes alignment a snap. It beats the straight through finder that came with the Meade Schmidt-Newtonian telescope that I had purchased used. (Posted on 7/29/2019)

This and a Telrad make it easy to find what I’m looking for. (Posted on 1/12/2019)

A nice add on to any scope with the standard vixen/synta finder shoe. I bounce mine between a C8 and a 80mm/F5 refractor. Nice bright wide views at a power that helps with finding prighter DSO's. And considerably well priced compared to the indentical finder with a different name on it. (Posted on 1/5/2019)

Great compact finder scope. Huge improvement over the stock finder on my C11. Great quality and well constructed that seams as it should have a higher price tag. I was so impressed that I bought one as a Christmas gift for my son. (Posted on 12/27/2018)

After moving to a 115EDT refractor from a 10" dob, I thought it a good idea to learn the use of a finder scope in addition of the use of the Telrad I was used to. I found the AT 850 finder scope here at Astronomics and it has all the qualities I was looking for. The right angle is easy to access from any angle when pointing the OTA, and the collimation adjustment setup is on an ALT /AZ configuration so it is intuitive for most mounting setups. The corrected view helps when searching for objects with no need to figure movement corrections in my head, especially during initial setup. It comes with the mount shoe, ready to mount to most scope configurations. I also like the total weight of this finder scope for the amount of aperture & magnification it offers. I may also mount a shoe on my big dob so I can use it there as well. A great value! (Posted on 12/26/2018)

these are great and provide you ability to locate the object easier as what you see with your naked eye is the same as it appears in the scope. You move the scope in the same direction as you would expect and not 180 degrees which can be confusing with normal spotter scope. (Posted on 11/3/2018)
