This lightweight Astrozap LSAT16 light shroud fits the big Astro-Tech 16" AT16RCT truss-tube Ritchey-Chrétien reflector. While the scope's truss-tube design saves weight, it leaves the middle of the optical tube open to the night sky. This can let stray light enter your telescope, as well as potentially allowing the optics to dew up. Both conditions degrade image quality and may prematurely end an imaging run. This Astrozap light shroud minimizes these problems.
This Astrozap LSAT16 light shroud is made in the USA of a durable nylon/cotton blend black cloth, with double-stitched seams for durability. It is tailored to slide easily and snugly over your AT16RCT's trusses and will retain its shape, keeping the shroud material from sagging into the light path, even in moderate to heavy dewing conditions. Top and bottom drawstrings secure the shroud in place.
The Astrozap light shroud blocks stray light to improve image contrast and functions as a passive dew prevention system to retard the formation of dew. For complete protection, an optional DCAT16 dust cover (made of the same material as the shroud) is available. This slips snugly over the open end of your scope to seal the optics from dust and debris when your scope is not in use.
