Product Description

This Celestron X-Cel LX 7mm eyepiece uses a new six-element fully-multicoated optical system to provide a wide 60° field of view. It's a good choice for high quality/high magnification observing with long focal length refractors, reflectors, or catadioptric scopes under good to somewhat better than average seeing conditions. Its full multicoatings provide high contrast that makes it a good choice for resolving detail in planets and planetary nebulas, while its edge-to-edge sharpness makes smaller globular clusters vivid and nearly three-dimensional.

The 7mm Celestron X-Cel LX is more or less regularly useful with long focal length scopes, but below average seeing conditions may limit its performance. If so-so seeing is the norm where you observe, its 7mm focal length may represent the maximum practical with a long focal length telescope.

It has a twist-up rubber eyecup and a usable eye relief of 16mm, for virtually unvignetted use with eyeglasses. A no-slip rubber grip ring provides a secure and comfortable grip when handling or changing eyepieces in cold weather. It is parfocal with the other X-Cel LX models so it will require little refocusing when changing between focal lengths.

It can also be used for imaging through your scope with a smart phone. Click on the "Recommended Accessories" tab above to find the adapter you need.

The Celestron X-Cel LX 7mm comes with dust caps for both ends of the eyepiece and a bolt-type plastic storage case.

Bought this to use with a 2x barlow to reach the max magnification of my dob. Works great and a great price. Crisp, clear wide view. Excellent images of Saturn and Jupiter and the associated moons. Twist up eye cup is great. Great for surveying around the moon. (Posted on 9/13/2019)

This is my go-to eyepiece for planetary viewing, and it never fails to get a "wow" when neighbors drop by to take a look at Saturn, Jupiter, or the Moon. Built solid, excellent color, fantastic sharpness and all at a price that makes it easier to explain to my spouse. (Posted on 7/22/2019)

Great eyepiece for the money! Nice rubber grip and eye cup that twists up. Stars are sharp to the edge! (Posted on 10/30/2018)

When seeing permits high magnifications this is a good eyepiece to grab. Good eye relief and eye placement is easy with the twist-up eye cup. As sharp as anything else I own in this range and cheaper too boot. (Posted on 8/4/2017)
