Product Description

This Starlight Instruments Feather Touch C-14 MicroFocuser replaces the focus knob on your standard 14" Celestron C14 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope (not the Edge HD version) to provide the most precise manual dual-speed fine focusing control possible. Although this Feather Touch will not eliminate any image shift already present in your scope, it will greatly improve your ability to hit the focusing "sweet spot" without shaking the tube while you are imaging or observing at high power.

The Feather Touch provides very precise control for both critical CCD imaging focusing and high magnification visual observing. Unlike some heavy add-on rear cell Crayford focusers, its light 7 ounce weight doesn't require a counterweight to keep your tail-heavy scope balanced. The focuser is precision-machined and anodized black with a brass fine-focus knob.

The focuser has two concentric focus knobs. The larger black ribbed outer knob provides standard speed focusing, while the ribbed inner brass knob provides 1/10th-speed fine focusing, making the Feather Touch MicroFocuser extremely accurate. A built-in stop prevents the primary mirror from detaching from the focuser.

The Feather Touch C-14 MicroFocuser is easily installed in place of the original focus knob on the standard Celestron C14 scope only (not the Edge HD version).

If your telescope is a C14 Edge HD, and not the standard C14 model, you will need the C14 Edge HD MicroFocuser (#FTMC14HD) instead of this standard C14 version.

If you have never used a feathertouch focuser you should start. If you're doing AP this is indispensable. the standard Celestron focuser is fine for visual, but doesn't provide the micro-fine focus needed for Astrophotography. Even for visual, the ability to be able to focus in micro-increments on Saturn without it jumping all over the place was worth every penny. The ability to get into razor sharp focus was important to me (especially for AP)and without a microfocuser it was near impossible to achieve this unless i just got lucky. We all know how little time we get to image and so much AP i see is amazing, but a hair out of focus at times. just my 2 cents, but a good quality microfocuser is as important as a good mount in terms of your images. if you can track and have a good camera and optics but cant get the sharp focus you need, its all for naught... in the end, in AP, its Tracking, Focus and optical quality of your scope that make an image a winner. The feathertouch focusers are legend among Astronomy enthusiasts... Get one (Posted on 10/28/2018)
