Product Description

This Losmandy dovetail plate adapter lets you mount photoguide rings or other accessories onto either a Losmandy "D" or "V" style accessory dovetail plate or onto any standard Vixen-style dovetail. A finger-tighten locking knob on the side of the adapter clamps the spring-loaded adapter firmly into place on the dovetail, but allows instant repositioning or changing of accessories with no tools required. Alignment pins in the adapter assure even pressure is applied along the full length of the V-shaped clamping grooves.

A series of six holes are drilled into the adapter for installing virtually any configuration of finderscope rings, off-axis guider rings, ball-head camera mounts, etc. The holes are countersunk on the underside of the adapter so that the mounting bolts holding the accessories will not interfere with the dovetail plate.

The adapter is made of machined anodized aluminum and weighs 7.25 oz. The height from the top of the dovetail plate to the top of the adapter when used with Losmandy D-plates is 0.80". When used with Losmandy "V" series plates of other Vixen-style plates, the distance is 0.55".

I used this rail to attach attach DSLR camera to main scope when imaging milky way shots. Its is a little heavy but it makes a very solid connection for any accessory you would like to add to existing dovetail. (Posted on 1/13/2019)

This clamp has many potential uses. I have attached an Arca Swiss photographic clamp to the top of the Losmandy DVA adapter. This clamp is attached to the top of my AT10RCT on an AP mount, A DSLR with a fast lens is attached to the Arca Swiss clamp to allow long exposure wide field imaging without having to remove the telescope from the mount.
