Product Description

The 10mm TeleVue Delos is a "do-it-all" eyepiece designed for medium high power/high contrast solar system and deep space observing with all telescope types and sizes. It has a long 20mm eye relief that makes it ideal for eyeglass wearers. Many of the eyepieces in this focal length range have much shorter eye relief that makes them problematical for eyeglass use, but that is not an issue with the Delos. With 20mm of eye relief, its full 72° apparent field is easily usable with glasses.

To see what the field of view of this eyepiece would be with your telescope, click on the formula tab above.

There is an adjustable height eyeguard with a soft rolldown eyecup to shield the eye from ambient light (from a neighbor's security light, for example) and improve the image contrast. The eyeguard height can be locked in place at any point desired. The rubber eyecup rotates for use with TeleVue Dioptrx astigmatism correcting lenses.

As a longer eye relief 72° field version of the acclaimed 100° field 10mm TeleVue Ethos, the 10mm Delos has all the virtues that astronomers have come to expect from an Ethos: high contrast, a neutral color balance, and full field sharpness - with well-controlled astigmatism, field curvature, lateral color, and angular magnification distortion correction. In addition, it has low pupil sensitivity (kidney bean effect) for daytime use.

The 10mm Delos has a 1.25" barrel that is threaded for standard 1.25" eyepiece filters. A safety groove is machined into the chrome barrel to engage your focuser thumbscrew. This will help prevent the eyepiece from falling should the thumbscrew accidentally loosen while observing. The main eyepiece barrel is narrow enough to comfortably use a pair of 10mm Delos in a binoviewer. Rubber grip rings provide a sure grip in cold weather when wearing gloves or mittens. Dust covers are provided for both ends of the eyepiece.

I love this eyepiece. My first view's were of Jupiter using my Evolution 8... Very nice! The adjustable eyeguard is very helpful in maintaining proper eye distance. A bit pricey perhaps, but well worth it. It will last a lifetime.
It's a little heavy as one would expect, but this hasn't been a problem.

The 10mm Tele Vue Delos is an excellent wide-field eyepiece that offers an expansive 72 degree apparent field of view and ample eye relief with superb contrast and color neutrality. I use it regularly with a number of my telescopes. It provides a 1.3 degree true field of view at 54x with my 101mm f/5.4 Tele Vue refractor, a 0.6 degree true field of view at 120x with my 10" f/4.7 Sky-Watcher Dob, and a 0.4 degree true field of view at 170x with my 15" f/4.5 Teeter's Telescopes Classic Dob sans Tele Vue Paracorr. Highly recommended. (Posted on 12/18/2018)

This is by far my most used and favorite eye piece. It produces a 165x in my 14” Dob which for my backyard conditions usually produces the best views, It has great eye relief and with the 72 deg FOV it gives plenty of view and even with my f/4.6 scope there is little to no edge distortion so I don’t have to spend money on a comma corrector. I really love the Delos line & in particular this EP. (Posted on 12/10/2018)

This may be the finest series of eyepieces available today. The 10mm is a perfect match for my premium apochromatic refractors. Ample eye relief, tack sharp all the way to the edge of the field of view, and superior contrast combine for an observing experience that is nothing short of exceptional. (Posted on 12/6/2018)

After almost 20 years of trying many different types and brands of eyepieces, the Tele Vue Delos is, for me, the best eyepiece series I have ever used. It combines the features I value most in an eyepiece: excellent optics, moderately wide field of view, long eye relief, and quality of construction. Well worth the money. (Posted on 12/1/2018)

The 10mm Delos IS the perfect eyepiece in my opinion. It is in the focuser of my 12" dob 85% of the time. The detail and contrast it pulls out of Globular Clusters (one of my favorite objects) is amazing. It's 72 degree fov is just right - your eyes can drink all those photons without being overwhelmed with too much fov. Our club does a lot of public outreach and this eyepiece is very easy to look through even for novice observers - no problem with eye placement.
In one word - Perfection! (Posted on 11/23/2018)

I am about 50 and have a very strong correction and I am picky about eyepieces and a serious planetary observer. I have been using some of the finest eyepieces for years. The Delos line is amazing. Even though it is a complex design they are sharp to the edge, very little trouble with glass wearers, and have incredible contrast. I am floored how close they are to what is commonly thought of as the finest and hard to get eyepieces. Best all around eyepiece on the market. (Posted on 11/22/2018)

The 10 (and 17.3) are the eyepieces I naturally grab for serious observing... wide angles provide great eye candy but to really 'see' something these eyepieces will not disappoint. (Posted on 11/7/2018)

Eye relief is very important to me and this eyepiece apart from having virtually no EOFB and high contrast views gives a generous and comfortable eye relief. The adjustable eye cup is a pleasure to use and the views are simply extraordinary. (Posted on 10/7/2018)

Great in my Celestron EdgeHD 9.25, giving 235x magnification...great for the faint fuzzy galaxies, smaller globular clusters, planetary nebulae, and the core of larger objects like Andromeda or Orion's Nebula. No false color, inky black skies all the way out to the edge. Excellent in my Stellarvue SVA130T at 91x magnification! Love looking at the full disk of the moon any phase with this combo. This eyepiece is simply outstanding. The 10mm Delos is sharp to the edge in my f/5.7 refractor. It has excellent transmission and bright color neutrality. I was extremely impressed with the lack of blackouts with this eyepiece. The Delos is an oustanding eyepiece for deep sky and lunar observations - the latter for which it holds its own against simpler designs such as high quality plossls and orthos. There is also something very unique but hard to describe about the presentation this eyepiece gives. It is very engaging. The 10mm Delos is one of the finest eyepieces I have ever used. Make sure you play with the eyecup adjustment mechanism before you take it out into the dark. (Posted on 8/4/2017)

Essentially perfect across the entire field. I have tried but failed to detect any astigmatism or field curvature all the way out to the field stop. The view is super easy to take in all at once by looking in the center. Alternatively, the view does not black out as the eye scans around the field. Use with eyeglasses is super easy as well. There might be the slightest chromatic aberration way off axis with super bright objects, but it is not seen with dimmer objects at all. The contrast is super high with inky black backgrounds to bright objects; thus, light scatter seems very well controlled. This particular focal length provides a very useful power for most telescopes as well. The only real downside is that it is about 1/4" off of parfocality with Pentax XL/XW and ES 68/82, and 17mm Nagler Type 4 eyepieces that focus pretty close to their upper barrel shoulders. It is parfocal with the majority of Televue eyepieces if you have a large collection of them already. I have not had any issues with the eye guard height adjustment mechanism. I just leave it all the way down for use with eyeglasses. All in all, a fine eyepiece. (Posted on 8/4/2017)
