Sky-Watcher EQM-35 Equatorial GoTo Mount

The steel tripod kept an 80mm Astro-Tech EDT refractor rock steady even in a strong breeze. The telescope didn't shake during focusing and didn't vibrate after focusing. Tracking is spot on. The assembly manual is sparse but I was able to follow the diagrams to quickly put it together. The SynScan manual is at best only fair-minus because the alignment instructions lack enough detail to properly align the scope to successfully use the GoTo function. For example, at step 3.3 on page 11, the manual doesn't explain how to navigate the SkyTour / list of stars that appears immediately after selecting "align the scope." Since I use the scope for planetary observing this was not a hindrance during the first couple of sessions because I was able to slew the telescope manually to Venus, the Moon, and Saturn. However, the SynScan handset screen claimed Saturn was below the horizon an hour after it rose. I'd have rated it higher but for the SynScan issues. (Posted on 5/26/2023)
