Product Description

The 14mm TeleVue Delos puts the optical virtues of a TeleVue Ethos eyepiece - high contrast, a neutral color balance, and full field sharpness - into a 72° field eyepiece with a long 20mm eye relief that makes it ideal for eyeglass wearers. The majority of eyepieces in this focal length range have much shorter eye relief that makes them problematical for eyeglass use, but that is not an issue with the Delos. With 20mm of eye relief, its full 72° apparent field is easily usable for those who wear glasses to control their astigmatism.

You can see how wide your actual field of view will be when you use this Delos with your telescope by using the eyepiece field calculator under the "formula" tab above.

There is an adjustable height eyeguard with a soft rolldown eyecup to shield the eye from ambient light (from a neighbor's security light, for example) and improve the image contrast. The eyeguard height can be locked in place at any point desired. The Delos can be used with TeleVue Dioptrx astigmatism correcting lenses, should you choose to observe sans eyeglasses.

As a longer eye relief/modestly lower power 72° field version of the acclaimed 100° field 13mm TeleVue Ethos, the 14mm Delos has the performance virtues that astronomers have come to expect from an Ethos - well-controlled astigmatism, field curvature, lateral color, angular magnification distortion correction, and low pupil sensitivity (kidney bean effect) for daytime use.

The 14mm Delos has a 1.25" barrel that is threaded for standard 1.25" eyepiece filters. A safety groove is machined into the chrome barrel to engage your focuser thumbscrew. This will help prevent the eyepiece from falling should the thumbscrew accidentally loosen while observing. The main eyepiece barrel is narrow enough to allow most observers to use a pair of 14mm Delos in a binoviewer. Rubber grip rings provide a sure grip in cold weather when wearing gloves or mittens. Dust covers are provided for both ends of the eyepiece.

The 14mm Delos IS the perfect eyepiece in my opinion. It is in the focuser of my 12" dob 85% of the time. The detail and contrast it pulls out of Globular Clusters (one of my favorite objects) is amazing. It's 72 degree fov is just right - your eyes can drink all those photons without being overwhelmed with too much fov. Our club does a lot of public outreach and this eyepiece is very easy to look through even for novice observers - no problem with eye placement.
In one word - Perfection! (Posted on 10/23/2019)

I recently picked up the 14mm Delos. I've used it in my Astrotech 102mm ED refractor and a 120mm APO. This eyepiece is perfect from center to edge. The stars are precision sharp as I've come to expect from Televue eyepieces. The contrast is very high with a nice dark, evenly illuminated sky background. Stars are sharp right to the field stop. I wear glasses and have no issues with blackouts with this eyepiece. The 14mm Delos also works extremely well with a barlow so you can start with this mid-FL eyepiece and get the equivalent of shorter FL Delos. In short, this is one of the finest eyepieces I have used. (Posted on 7/25/2019)

The views through Delos EPs are incredible, owing to the wide eye relief. It is like looking through a portal as the sides of the EP just completely disappear from your view. The ability to extend and retract the upper portion of the EP helps to eliminate the "hunt for the sport" on where to center and place your eye. I have the 14mm, 8mm, and 3.5mm. The planetary experience with the 3.5 and double star (e.g. Epsilon Lyrae) are just stunning... (Posted on 7/24/2019)

The eye relief and forgiving eye placement made me really enjoy this EP. It's your go to focal length 8"-12" dobs, and I could easily observe a target with this EP for hours without fatigue. Tied with the XWs for the most comfortable eyepiece series I've used. (Posted on 1/14/2019)

This is my most used eyepiece in my 130 mm refractor. It's field of view in my scope is big enough to frame most objects, while at the same time providing enough magnification to resolve good detail in open clusters and asterisms. It is also a fantastic eyepiece for slowly scanning the Milky Way. It also is very close in weight to other Delos eyepieces, which is helpful for maintaining balance on alt/az mounts. This is easily my most used EP. The combination of FOV, eye relief and mag I get with my 14" Dob is hard to beat The 72 deg FOV is just about perfect and even in my F/4.6 scope I don't have the need for an expensive comma corrector. A definite 'must have' for your collection! (Posted on 11/11/2018)

I love the combination of comfort and generous field of view of the Delos line! The 14mm is my favorite for observing globular clusters using an 8" SCT (at roughly 150x). The superior sharpness really helps with resolving the most stars in a glob, while the 72 degree field maintains that grand sense of scale even with medium-high magnification. Also my go-to eyepiece for planets on the nights of mediocre seeing when going much beyond 150x gets mucky. (Posted on 10/15/2018)

I was looking for an eyepiece to compliment my Pentax XW's, the 14mm XW had too much field curvature. I picked up the 14mm televue delos, this is one great eyepiece. It has an expansive view, great er and light transmission. I have several types of telescopes, so it works great for planetary, globulars, clusters, galaxies, lunar, nebula depending on the telescopes focal length that I'm using. Contrast is superb, you need this eyepiece for the exquisite views that it can provide. (Posted on 10/6/2018)
