Product Description

Paul Dellechiaie of TeleVue created the 100° field Ethos eyepieces in 2007, the 72° field Delos eyepieces in 2011, and now the 62° field TeleVue DeLite eyepieces - smaller, lighter, and less expensive versions of the Delos. The family line of premium eyepieces continues . . . from Ethos to Delos to DeLite to your scope.

The compact 18.2mm TeleVue DeLite eyepiece weighs only 7.6 ounces. It has a generous 20mm of eye relief, so eyeglass wearers can see the full field, even when wearing glasses. For those with astigmatism, this medium to low power 18.2mm TeleVue DeLite can use the optional TeleVue Dioptix astigmatism correcting lens.

The unique locking eyeguard, with soft rubber roll-down eyecup, slides up and down the eyepiece barrel to let you choose the most comfortable viewing position for your eye.  The DeLite is parfocal with 1.25" TeleVue Plossl, Panoptic, Nagler, and Delo eyepieces.

A reviewer in Sky & Telescope said, ". . . the DeLites offered superb views. Stars appeared as pinpoints across the entire field; there wasn't a hint of false color around even the brightest stars; and there was only a touch of pincushion distortion, meaning that round objects won't stretch into ovals as you sweep them across the field. Daytime views were contrasty and without a trace of color fringes even at the borders of high-contrast objects such as power lines seen against a bright sky.

"These are the features everyone looks for in a quality eyepiece, but the DeLites offered something more . . . The DeLites are very easy to look through. You never get the feeling that you are struggling to get your eye perfectly aligned with the eyepiece."

As an eyeglass wearer I have finally found mid and short focal length eyepieces I can use to get the best images possible.
The DeLites are as sharp and with equal contrast as any ortho or Plossl I have used. Plenty of eye relief to get full field with glasses on. The 18 is also great for terrestrial viewing with lower power and a generous fov. (Posted on 9/12/2019)

This 18.2mm was a continuation of replacing some higher usage Radian focal lengths. The 13mm Delite was the first. This was the next in line. And, again I am not disappointed. How much better can eyepieces get?
No flaws. Only sharp, flat fields with absolutely no lateral color whatsoever. Excellent comfort and small, light form factor. Perfect. (Posted on 1/4/2019)

Adding to the reviews above, the 18.2 is a great EP in my TV 76 (f 6.3) when I use it for a daytime spotting scope. (Posted on 12/5/2018)

The 18.2mm TV DeLite is a remarkable eyepiece. Using it with a 120mm f/7.5 refractor I have found the eyepiece to be absolutely perfect from center to edge. Stars are tight, pinpoint sharp images. Eye placement is very easy (no blackouts) and it is very comfortable. The field of the DeLite is very clean. There is no edge of field brightening (EOFB). It also works very well with a barlow. I was particularly impressed with how good the edge performance was with a 60mm f/6 APO refractor that causes all kinds of edge problems in most other eyepieces. In this little refractor the 18.2mm DeLite is sharp almost to the field stop with maybe a slight defocus in the last few percent of the field.

I have found I use the DeLite extensively for deep sky and lunar observations. It has excellent contrast and sky background for teasing out details in nebula and faint stars in clusters. Dark nebula have outstanding contrast against the stellar background. (Posted on 11/30/2018)

I loved them so much for the price/performance, at one point I owned a complete set of TeleVue Radians. My primary scope is an 11" SCT. My absolute go to eyepiece was the 18mm Radian. I have a lot of other eyepieces, but something about the combination of fl, fov, eye relief, quality and ease of use made it my most used eyepiece. I took a few years off from astronomy, and when I came back, the Delite's were out. I had to order an 18.2 to see if can out shine my favorite eyepiece. What a good decision. The design is much better. The locking sliding eye guard is a big improvement. I use glasses and it has great eye-relief for me. I like to set it to the correct height for my glasses. With the Radian I would often accidentally push the eye guard down with my glasses because it's just a click-stop. With the new locking collar, it stays put if my glasses hit it. I alternated between the two, and the Delite provided more contrast, less scatter, and was sharper to the edge. The Delites are a winner. Lightweight, great performance, quality build and a reasonable cost. (Posted on 11/26/2018)

Optically perfect, small & light, exceptionally comfortable to use with or without glasses. A great focal length for all-purpose medium-low power viewing also barlows very well for med-high views. I have a second to use with binoviewer. Nose room is a little tight for my narrow IPD when binoviewing but removal of the rubber cups solves this for me. The housing can also be easily removed if desired. I find 18.2mm a great focal length in my scopes for observing nebulae, so when I'm out mono-viewing I keep a nebula filter on my second 18.2 DeLite. Absolutely phenomenal eyepiece. Probably one of the best eyepieces currently on the market. (Posted on 10/7/2018)
