This Zeiss camera adapter converts any 65mm or 85mm Zeiss Diascope spotting scope into a high power telephoto lens. It converts a 65mm Diascope into a 770mm f/12, while an 85mm Diascope becomes a 1000mm f/12. You can use the adapter with any 35mm single lens reflex (SLR) or digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera body by adding an inexpensive optional T-ring to fit your particular camera make.
Unlike other adapters, the Zeiss adapter does not use a light-robbing eyepiece to project the image from the scope to the film plane. Instead, it uses a multi-lens no-eyepiece optical system for sharp, flat-field images similar in quality to those produced by telephoto lenses designed strictly for camera use. All air-to-glass surfaces in the adapter are fully multicoated for high light transmission and contrast. A thumbscrew in the side of adapter allows you to change the camera orientation from portrait to landscape in a matter of seconds. Plastic endcaps keep dust out of the optical system when the adapter is not in use. The adapter comes in a zippered and padded Cordura nylon-type case for added protection against rough treatment. A belt loop on the case allows no-hands carrying.
