Product Description
This medium short focal length Takahashi eyepiece uses a proprietary five-lens optical design that yields exceptionally sharp images and very high contrast. The 10mm Takahashi has the high contrast, low ghosting, flat field, and excellent edge to edge image sharpness for which classical four-element Abbe-type orthoscopic eyepieces are famous - but the modern five-element Takahashi design has a 52° apparent field of view that far outstrips the 40-42° field typical of even the best conventional orthos.
The 10mm Takahashi is a very good medium to medium high power eyepiece for lunar observing, resolving globular clusters, picking up detail in the more compact emission and reflection nebulas, etc. Its 10mm focal length provides the optimal 1mm exit pupil for the sharpest images with an f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. It makes an excellent all-purpose eyepiece with scopes of all optical types - refractors, Schmidt-Newtonian and Dobsonian reflectors, catadioptrics, and more.
