Product Description

This 13" Celestron dovetail plate attaches to the underside of a Celestron 8" Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube, bolting to the tube's front and rear cell. It lets you install the optical tube on a Celestron CGEM, CGEM DX, CGE, or CGE Pro mount. It will also work with a Losmandy G11 German equatorial mount and with current Losmandy GM-8 mounts that are equipped with the wider G11 saddle. The extruded and machined aluminum plate is anodized Celestron orange.

The plate has the standard 3" wide dovetail flanges underneath that fit into the Celestron and Losmandy dovetail saddles (the Losmandy D-plate standard). The top of the 4" wide plate is curved to fit the Celestron 8" optical tube. New longer hardware is supplied to bolt the plate to the optical tube after you remove the shorter screws in the tube - two hex-head machine screws in the rear cell and one in the front cell.

This is a perfect fit on my Celestron C8. I dig the bright orange color. It seems to help keep the mosquitoes away. Solid construction, nice fit. (Posted on 1/14/2019)

I bought this when I deforked by old Celestar 8 and mounted it to a CGEM. Provides a very secure connection and adds a little Celestron color to the overall look. Allows for a wide range of adjustment for balancing. I added a simple wingnut bolt at the top end to prevent sliding when placing the OTA on the mount. (Posted on 1/2/2019)

This dovetail fit perfectly on my old (1980's) C-8. I added stops on both ends
to prevent my OTA from sliding thru an improperly tightened saddle. (Posted on 1/1/2019)
