I bought and returned this item. Thankfully Astronomics was cool about it and took the return.
I have a dome and I was hoping to just mount this and leave it in place to check my polar alignment from time to time in case I bumped my tripod. Thing is, you can not leave this attached to your mount.
If you leave it on and then run your scope, it will collide and probably leave a fat bruise on your OTA. The placement interferes with operation of the scope.
So you have to put this attachment on your mount, visually align it parallel with your telescope OTA during the day, then align polaris with it at night, and take it off before using and damaging your scope.
Also, this is only good to a couple of degrees on your alignment.
It is a flawed process and dangerous to your expensive OTA. Do not buy it.
You can use the hand controller's All Star Polar Align instead. Or for not much money ($250) you can buy a dedicated little polar camera like Sharp Cap or QHY Pole Master that 1) won't scar your OTA, and 2) gets arc-second level accuracy. (Posted on 1/3/2019)
