The Paramount MYT (pronounced "mighty") Robotic Telescope Mount is a German equatorial mount designed from the base up to provide unsurpassed stability and performance for portable, semi-portable, or permanent installations. Other than its smaller stature and lower total payload capacity, the Paramount MYT incorporates essentially every feature found in the higher capacity Paramount ME II and Paramount MX+ models.

Product Description

The coolest feature of our new Series 6 mounts is that they’re Paramounts.

While the new Paramount Series 6 refinements are important, they pale in comparison to the highly desirable results that Paramounts are already known to deliver even without absolute encoders: all-sky pointing accuracy below 30 arcseconds and unguided exposures as long as 20 minutes.1

That extraordinary performance would be impossible without Paramount’s integrated software. TPoint™ and ProTrack™ dynamically update the mount’s position across both axes to correct system-wide errors caused by tube flexure, atmospheric refraction, polar misalignment, mis-centered encoders and/or worm gears, and more.

While the optional on-axis absolute encoders eliminate periodic error, TPoint™ telescope modeling with ProTrack™ is required to correct all the errors mentioned above. (See Bisque.com for details.)

Paramounts routinely deliver unsurpassed pointing and tracking accuracy — with or without on-axis absolute encoders.

Paramounts are also known for their reliability and straightforward operation. They just go, night after night, as it should be!

  • 70 lb. (32 kg) instrument capacity; 140 lb. (64 kg) maximum payload capacity (instruments + counterweights)
  • Unibody mount design weighs 35 lb. (16 kg) without counterweights or the counterweight shaft
  • All-sky pointing accuracies below 30 arcseconds RMS (see Software Specifications below for details)
  • Maximum seven (7) arcseconds peak-to-peak periodic error before correction
  • After a one-time training, periodic error is 1 arcsecond, peak-to-peak or less
  • Optional 26-bit Renishaw encoders eliminate periodic error and the need for homing; operates in temperatures as low as –40° C
  • If you skip encoders now and later decide you want them, they can be retrofitted on Series 6 Paramounts
  • To address confusion about what encoders contribute to the Paramount’s performance, see FAQ below regarding whether encoders are right for you
  • Optional on-axis encoders and the related cables are fully integrated inside the mount to prevent snags
  • The telescope control system and through-the-mount cables are housed inside the mount and leave ample room for custom cables
  • Advanced MKS 6000 telescope control system lets you connect via USB, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi (MKS 6000 Upgrade Kits will be available for older Paramounts)
  • Three high-power XT60 ports and a pass through Ethernet port are located on the on Instrument Panel
  • Redesigned Versa-Plate™ (included) accepts most telescopes and makes mounting equipment a breeze
  • 48V DC power supply and PC-to-mount USB and Ethernet cables included
  • One 20 lb. (9 kg) counterweight is included and can balance 25-30 lb. (11-14 kg). You may need to purchase more for heavier payloads.
  • Belt-driven gears with spring loaded worm gears produce virtually zero backlash
  • Durable and fade-resistant red powder coating and black anodized finish; components are aluminum
  • Clutch-free design helps maintain its TPoint™ assisted pointing accuracy
  • For mounts without on-axis encoders, AutoHome™ homing capability ensures the mount always knows its orientation (after performing an initializing process called “homing” which usually takes a minute or less)
  • Calibrated azimuth and elevation polar alignment adjustments assist polar alignment
  • Paramount’s unsurpassed pointing and tracking is made possible by the integrated TPoint™ modeling and ProTrack™ technology.
  • By employing TPoint’s calibration and telescope modeling tools, you’ll enjoy all sky pointing accuracies below 30 arcseconds RMS. Nothing outperforms that — and that’s without on-axis absolute encoders.
  • Operating in conjunction with TPoint™, ProTrack™ continuously updates the mount’s position across both axes to correct system-wide tracking errors including tube flexures, atmospheric refraction, polar misalignment, harmonic errors caused by imperfect encoders and main gear centering, and more.
  • On-axis absolute encoders alone cannot correct such errors that exist with all telescopes. A properly applied telescope model is required to achieve superior tracking.
  • Without those encoders, 5-to-10-minute unguided exposures are common with many enjoying up to 20 minutes.
  • For more information about what encoders can and cannot do, please see the FAQs.
  • All the included software is integrated into a single, easy-to-use, application consisting of TheSky™ Professional, TPoint™, Cameras+, Domes, Multi-OS+, and Weather modules. Enjoy the simplicity of controlling your cameras and astrophotography devices with one application.
  • It runs on Windows™, macOS™, and Linux.
  • TheSky works identically not matter which operating system you choose. You can even switch between operating systems and its license allows up to six computers. Why paint yourself or your institution into a corner?
  • The included TheSky™ Universal Bundle represents a $1,095 value.

I bought this mount in summer of 2018. I had issues with my previous consumer mount in both tracking and ability to center an object repeatedly. Once I set the MyT up, polar aligned then fine aligned I have had zero issues. Mount can set for days or weeks in observatory, I come out, power it up and everything is aligned and tracking perfectly. TheSkyX software was easy to learn, setup and use. Has many features beyond the basics of guiding and tracking. It saves settings for different scope/camera setups. It has been a joy at every level. Even after a year it still brings a smile every time I open the observatory. (Posted on 8/20/2019)

Coming off an upgrade from a starter mouth I can tell you from personal experience . The mount disappears. ALL issues related to the mount are simply gone. Software that goes with makes it so easy to do polar alignment and get it exactly on target. Plate solving etc the software allows the mount to perform perfectly every night. (Posted on 11/18/2018)

For observatory setting this is an unbeatable mount it's the "lightest" of the SB mounts so it could used in the field but this payload the smoothness of the tracking is right up there. This is a mount that I could recommend to most imagers. (Posted on 10/9/2018)

I purchased the MyT about a year ago due to some needed additional weight carrying capacity. I have other tracking mounts, but the MyT is my first of what I refer to as a "premeium" mount. Suffice to say, should I decide to purchase another mount at some point in the future it will be a Bisque mount because of my experience with the MyT. The tracking is very precise and the included TheSkyX software is packed with useful features that I use all the time, like the available asteroid and satellite databases and tracking. A short time-lapse video of the asteroid (3200 Phaethon) tracking capabilities (not guided) are at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6ThwOoQ5UI
I am totally mobile and every time I take the MyT (with the associated portable pier) to the field I am delighted with the ease of use and precision that the mount delivers. Another nice feature is the capacity of the mount vs its total weight. Being able to easily carry a mount and pier with a 50 lb capacity is another plus vs some of the other mounts I have owned which were considerably heavier. Nice job Bisque! (Posted on 10/7/2018)

Excellent mount that solves many problems. Can go unguided for several min and perform better than many lower priced mounts with guiding. One less thing to worry about while doing astrophotography. Buy this one and very unlikely you will never need to upgrade again unless you need to have a rig with over 100 lbs attached. Portable too! (Posted on 10/6/2018)

If you want the best in this class, you have limited options - and for me, the MyT was a no-brainer. Observatory-level precision, and the most capable control, automation, and planetarium software on the planet. For the serious enthusiast, Software Bisque's Paramount products are fantastic. The MyT is portable but will easily handle a 50 lb payload. It's not cheap, but unless you get into some seriously heavy iron this will be the last mount you'll ever need. Really, it's a work of art.
